Closed-tube processing
Processing takes place inside the tube. The tube closure and instrument cover help contain the sample during homogenisation.

Homogenisation inside the sample tube
Disposable tubes for processing tissue, biopsy, cartilage and bone samples with SpinAX. A ceramic element and the metal rasp inside the cap perform the grinding action.
In the daily workflow
Processing takes place inside the tube. The tube closure and instrument cover help contain the sample during homogenisation.
Single-wrapped tubes without saline or with 5 ml 0.85% NaCl, plus double blister packaging.
Axonlab also lists ProbeAX Evolution sterile AL0513-B under separate instructions. Choose the configuration by its exact reference.

July 2024 instructions cover AL0509, AL0510, AL0511 and AL0511-B. October 2025 instructions cover sterile AL0512, AL0513 and AL0513-B. Packs contain 50 tubes. AL0509 is supplied without NaCl; AL0510, AL0511 and AL0511-B contain 5 ml 0.85% NaCl. Unopened tubes are stored at +4 to +25 °C and used exclusively with SpinAX AL0500.

The AHEPA demonstration shows how the ProbeAX Evolution tube is loaded into SpinAX and how the homogenisation cycle is started. The system is used according to the current manufacturer’s instructions.
The AHEPA demonstration uses a one-minute cycle. The ProbeAX Evolution instructions, version 03 (05/07/2024), for AL0509/AL0510/AL0511/AL0511-B recommend one minute for standard samples, a sample weight of 500 mg, and adjustment to sample type and size. The current Axonlab AL0510 page, checked on 23/10/2026, describes the classic configuration with 5 ml of 0.85% NaCl and a two-minute grinding time. Confirm the exact reference, current instructions and the laboratory’s validated protocol before use.
The ProbeAX Evolution flyer lists subculture and molecular diagnostics. Its instructions require prompt downstream microbiological and molecular methods under internal laboratory procedures. Axonlab describes AL0510 as tested DNA-free for molecular analyses. Compatibility and optimisation of a specific method must be confirmed by the laboratory with the technical team.
ProbeAX instructions require a securely tightened cap, tissue completely covered by liquid and transport to the laboratory as quickly as possible. Processing and subsequent microbiological or molecular analyses follow internal laboratory procedures.
FROM THE DEMONSTRATIONS
The Greek demonstrations show the disposable ProbeAX Evolution tube loaded upside down in the SpinAX holder after removing the magnetic cover. The cover is replaced, the duration checked and the automatic cycle started. In these examples, a one-minute cycle is selected. Cycle duration depends on the specimen and consumable reference. Follow current instructions and the laboratory’s validated protocol.
The presentations describe alternating clockwise and anticlockwise SpinAX motion. The ProbeAX Evolution tube contains a ceramic element and a metal grinding surface in the cap for mechanical homogenisation. The disposable tube and reusable instrument are separate products.
The Greek demonstration shows homogenised material retrieved with a pipette or syringe in an appropriate laboratory setting before downstream analysis. Follow current manufacturer instructions and the laboratory’s validated protocol for handling and storage.
Axonlab presents ProbeAX Evolution and SpinAX for sample preparation before culture or molecular analysis. Suitability for a specific PCR or NGS test requires separate validation based on the sample, method and reagents.
